That was the purpose of McCain/Feingold to legally authorize the MSM power over elections, especially 60 days prior to an election. All Republicans got out of that transition of power was the 'right' to say I am 'so and so' and I approve this message.

Are you suggesting that Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 did have the same press?
In 1984 the MSM was all about Reagan drooling.
The press doesn't matter if the candidate has the correct positions and shows strength.
The MSM uses the candidate's weaknesses to defeat them.
