Virtually NO one in the Congress would go for this. Everyone from the Greenies on the far left to the Labor Unions to the Neo Isolationists on the far right would go absolutely mental about it. It would piss off every single faction except the Big Business types in both the Democrat and the Republican base. Doubtlessly some pseudo intellectual looked at the EU and said "Hey we should do that". It has about as much chance of being purposed as you have chances to get elected President of the USA.

I don't know about a North American Union, I do believe President Bush would NOT be a party to it. I doubt my trust would hold under a democrat white house. Things can change with a liberal Supreme Court, so that must be foreseen to be prevented. I don't believe keeping your eyes open should be considered deranged.
Also, If I were to get the proper education, and kept my own house in order, I bet I COULD be President! :)
