German television broadcast pictures they said came from the man's Web site, showing him standing in a forest in camouflaged military fatigues and brandishing a hi-tech rifle. There he was, in the woods, with a gun! Why the *(&# didn't he put the bullet in his head then and there? Why in the world do these losers insist on taking others with them?

...camouflaged military fatigues... I guess the camouflage didn't work if they were still recognizable as military fatigues?
I am in no way making fun of this story, but the writers and editors are idiots. Being al-reuters, though, I suppose that English might be their second language - after arabic, of course.
