I just want to give you all a little bit of an update. Austin's feeling much better so far than he did the last time through chemo in 2004-05 - very little nausea. He has lost his hair already, though - his older brother and I shaved our heads, too. Sounds corny, I know. We did not do it last time, but he is older now, and was more upset about the hair loss than when he was 11. He enjoyed buzzing us.

His next treatment phase, sometime in the spring, will be much, much tougher than this one - he'll be in the hospital for at least a month.

Thank you all for your continued prayers - i know they mean a lot to Austin, and to me.

Pax Christi.

Thanks for the update. Prayers will continue for Austin.

I think it is cool that you and his older brother shaved your heads.

Last year I saw the father of a 5 year old with his head shaved. The love between the father and son was so apparent. It was beautiful.

It doesn't sound corny at all. As you know, cancer affects the whole family. And most family members feel soooo helpless, and wish they could "take some of the (insert anything yucky here) away." Shaving your heads is so loving and so cool...corny is the farthest thing from it.

God bless you, your family and especially Austin this Christmas eve.

Thanks for the ping back, Nancee :)

Prayers for all of you. I don't know how I would find the strength to deal with something like that, but I guess you just do. May you have faith and family to help you.

Prayers up for Austin. So sorry I had not seen this thread at any of the earlier postings. I'll light a 48-hour candle and all are welcome to do the same or to keep lighting this one or others.
