More than two years ago, I asked for your prayers for my son, who was undergoing treatment for a malignant brain tumor. His treatment at the time, though physically brutal, was successful. However, Austin's cancer has returned, and he will be going back into radiation and chemo soon - he had surgery last week.
This is so hard - he pretty much missed Middle School with this, and now here goes High School. Pray for him to enjoy college...
We will very much appreciate all of your prayers. Thanks you.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive. I will have an update to post by the end of this week regarding the next phase of his treatment - which is coming up soon...

Prayers for Austin ~Pandora~
I took the liberty of creating a ping list of all those who have previously posted their prayers for my son to this thread - I hope you don't mind. I won't abuse it. I just wanted to give all of you this short update on where things stand.
The second phase of Austin's treatment is coming soon - depending on how quickly his blood counts recover, he is tentatively scheduled to check in to the hospital a week from Monday (the 19th.) It may get pushed back, based on the counts.
This phase of treatment is high dose chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. The transplant is done because his body cannot regenerate his blood naturally. In his case, it is not actually a marrow transplant but an autologous stem cell transplant; meaning, his own stem cells, which were harvested from his blood a few weeks ago. I know there have been many stem cell related threads on FR, and all of you certainly know, in the abstract, that there are a number of stem cell therapies which are perfectly moral and well established, and do not involve unborn children. This is one of them.
The high dose chemo is very dangerous. It is only acceptable because his cancer is an even higher risk.
I'll send another note when he actually checks in to the hospital, and hope that all of you will especially remember Austin in your prayers at that time. I probably will not be online much to post another update for a while once he goes in to the hospital, and he will be there for about a month.
I just want to thank all of you again for your prayers.
Prayers continue
Thank you for taking the time to update us --- your son and your family remain in my humble prayers, (((PhatHead))).
Gads, precious Dad and precious Austin.
Certainly hugs, love and prayers.
And sometimes tears.

May God bless and watch over Austin as he undergoes his chemotherapy. Prayers for his family ~~ May God watch over all.
Thank you PhatHead, prayers always for Austin. Prayers for your family. God Bless you all.
Thank you for the update.
It sounds like this is going to be a very difficult time for Austin and the whole family. It's going to be tiring, so make sure you take care of yourselves so you can be at your best for Austin. I'll hold you in my prayers, and look forward to the good news afterward.
