BTW, I firmly believe bin Laden is dead. It's the other nuts that fell out of the tree that concern me. They want to kill you and your sweet little children. Be it in the carpool lane, in the cafeteria, at recess or even on Sunday morning while kneeling to pray in your place of worship, you and your children as well as me and my children are all targets.
Sure they want to kill Americans, that was evident on September 11th and has been evident before and since.
But that doesn't increase my fear today. My level of attention and concern has remained at the same pitch since the WTC came tumbling down. I don't brush this aside for an instant.
But I do know that I must trust some institutions around me in order to be kept safe. And mostly, I trust the military that is hunting al Qaeda diligently. I'm grateful for their sacrifices and their efforts.
And in the meantime, I refuse to hide under the bed.
That's what I think. It's not that at the top they target any specific 'non-significant' target. It's that they are trying to encourage, at the local level, followers to take up their swords. See -- the Muslim guy in Seattle who killed that woman at the Jewish center; the Muslim guy in San Fran who drove through the Jewish neighborhood randomly hitting people. All for Allah.
