Ya gotta love McCain. The guy has crust. Now that he really can't do any more damage, I wonder if there is some way to get him to switch parties.

proud of my role persuading my fellow Republican senators to respect the limits of our own power and not abolish the (judicial) filibuster rule. ... Exhibit 357 of poor judgment is herewith appended.

What's his line this time -- that the middle finger stands for number 1?
To: freespirited
I bet he would WACO any gangs that came up against him as president.
I fully expect McCain to be Hillry's running mate then the evolution of 'doing things smarter and better' would conclude with 'commonsense'.

John McCain is a GAS BAG!

He probably can't be trusted, but this is a smart move on his part. The only way he'll win the nomination is if he convinces enough of the base that he is a stalwart ally on judges.

I am a Giuliani man myself. Anyone who kicked that terrorist Arafat out of a function gets my vote. Anyone else with me?

McCain is just the type of hack who, if defeated in the primary, would run as an independent.

He (McCain) spoke of the importance of judges who would strictly interpret the Constitution.... The reaction from the Federalists was polite, but not overwhelming. ... Hey, Johnny, we remember your "Gang of 14"

No, Giuliani is not willing to do anything about partial-birth abortion. He is a gun grabbing fool whose only conservative position is the war on terror. Surely McCain shares more of our values than Giuliani.

There is absolutely NOTHING McCain could ever say to get me to vote for him.
A guy on Hewitt's program today said that he was concerned that if McCain didn't get the nomination, he would go independent and draw just enough away from the repubs - to thereby elect Hillary - which is exactly what happened to her husband.
You don't suppose McCain/Hillary could be hatching such a plan .. do you ..?? Would McCain be so arrogantly stupid as to pull such a thing ..?? And .. if that did happen, would Hillary keep her end of the bargain and select McCain for SecDef or SecState ..?? I'm getting nervous just thinking about it.

I brought this up some time ago because there is not much that I would put past the megalomaniac. However, someone posted that McCain insists he will not do this.
Assuming someone else gets the GOP nomination, I will be concerned until the day he can no longer declare third party.
