David Hofman and Susan Solomon, two scientists who had helped alert the world to the existence of a menacing hole in the stratospheric ozone layer above Antarctica, recently reported that this worrisome feature of the atmosphere appears to have stopped widening. After the hole was discovered in 1986, international agreements were reached to end the use of ozone-depleting chemicals (chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs), and these measures may allow the hole to "heal" completely sometime over the next century.
More good news since the dims won congress.
I guess Fat Albert Gore accomplished another milestone in his industrious career.

The change in the Ozone has nothing to do with the Dims in Congress based on their actions, just the gas they released
All since Tuesday Nov 7th , the end of global warming and the beginning of a new ice age!
These guys know that the amount of fluoro-carbons being released into the environment have declined substantially, and now they are saying "see, it worked" even though it's pretty obvious it didn't work at all.
The only conclusion is that they are mad.

It was odd posting; I was in the middle of doing the post off of Yahoo News and mis-clicked, I immediately went back to the sight and it was gone. Had to track it down at another source to post.
Does this mean we are not doomed?
No, we're still doomed. Global warming, meteors, comets. Something will get us.
This probably means that there's too much ozone, and that it will be necessary to make many government grants to find a way to eliminate some of the excess O3.
Hint to future grantees: don't depend on CFC's to do the job.

I'll eat my hat if anyone had any good readings on the ozone hole over Antartica prior to 1986, which makes current conversations meaningless. Willing to proven wrong.

Nah. We're still going to die.
Just watch what happens when the earth's axis tilts, and the ozone hole moves to the North Pole. I just hope it travels over the Middle East when it makes its move.
True, then why not say recent global warming may be a freak ?
Individual years can be. 1998 is a good example - a strong el nino that year made it a record breaker
