"I said I had a "right" to use them. If I pay for something I have a "right" to use it, it isn't a "privilege". It is a right. That doesn't mean I may use them as I wish."
IMHO, the word 'right' is widely and grossly abused. Freedom of speech is a right. Freedom from unreasonable search is a right. Driving is not a right. Being a jerk and disturbing the peace is not a right.
"When you say I have no "right" to use university libraries even though I pay tuition to the university, it is like saying I have no right to drive my car even though I have paid for it."
"True, I have to obey the law in using both, but I have an absolute "right" to the use of both because I paid for that "right"."
Rights don't come from the bank. IF that right was conveyed through the payment then that 'right' needs to be documented with a proper badge and proper behavior. If the conditions of that payment are not met then the 'right' ceases until the conditions are met.
Face it, the kid was a jerk and these kids learned more about the real world from this event than all 4 years of their indoctrination at this school.
