If I don't have my ID at a University facility as I'm supposed to - I don't belong there.

If a University COP (not just "someone")asks me to leave as a result of my not being able to prove my status as a student, I LEAVE.

Hence, no conflict with the campus security.

Read the article. He was leaving as instructed when he was assaulted. You seem to want to ignore that fact.
