Robert has signed up on FR, but has not yet really checked this site out yet. He didn't have much time or access when in the "Sandbox", and since he's been home he's been a bit occupied with all that we've been going through. I'll encourage him to get on FR before he leaves next week.
Salute to William Jess Pinnell. 'Tis a fine memorial you've created for another one of your heroes.
please encourage him (perhaps here?) to share his screenname & some introductory "hello" comments.
Mystery-aks son ... FReeper Milo828 is also in sandbox & posts now & then at the Dose.Maybe they know each other.. or maybe they can get acquainted via FR
I will do that. I would love to have him posting on FR.
Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute! Thank God for your dad.
Just awesome! I know they would have been there in person if they could have!
What a lovely tribute!
If we could have, we would have been there on a moments notice!
SoldierDad...

Lovely tribute to your dad.
I salute your father. In 1964 I joined the Air Force and my first assignment was with the Security Police Squadron. I ended up with a 30 year career. May your father rest in peace.
I heard a poignant sermon illustration on the radio yesterday about a teenage football player whose dad died. When the boy returned to the team and to his first game after the burial he begged the coach to put him in the opening line-up, a thing he'd never asked before. The coach hesitated, because the boy was not one of the best players on the team, but he relented, feeling sorry for him with the passing of his dad. To everyone's surprise, this boy played his heart out, and played better than any other member of the team that day, making his personal best showing ever on the field. Afterward the coach asked him, "Did you play in memory of your dad today? Was that the difference?" The young player responded, "Today I played for an audience of one. You see, my dad was blind, and today was the first time he would actually see me play the game."
I bring that illustration to your thread to remind you that your dad actually sees more now than he did before, and you can bet he won't miss this tribute you've made.
May he rest in peace. Prayers for your family.
Great tribute to a great man. Thanks so much for sharing with us. May God bless your family and fill your hearts with warm memories to last a lifetime.

Thank you for sharing the story of your dad, Richard. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire SoldierDad family as the holiday season approaches.
Robert, a special prayer for you as you continue on your journey.
What a lovely tribute for your Dad. May he rest in peace and I hope everyone's prayers have helped you through this as much as possible.
Most important besides his other contributions to this country is raising you right.
Thanks for including me.

Wonderful tribute. The son he raised says a lot about the man he was.
My prayers for you and your family.
