What was the immigration position of his opponent in 2006?

Hayworth was Tancredo hardline. He even voted against HR 4437 because he said it wasn't tough enough.

I heard JD saying and I think it was on the Hugh Hewitt show that his opponent was aping his immigration stance.

Is this true? Or was JD lying?
