Compare it to a Scary Movie or an Airplane spoof and you'd be spot on.That's not the best comparison. What people are objecting to is the false pretence and the deception. Nobody in Scary Movie or Airplane can say that they didn't know that the movie was going to be fiction and over-the-top.
Apparently that's not the case with this movie. "Borat" or "Ali G." or whatever he calls himself may get the releases by misrepresenting himself. Whether or not those deceived have a good legal case, they do have a point about his ethics.
Those may not have been the best comparisons but I was trying to show that Moore et al are not even close comparisons. I've also thought more about the PC aspect of this and frankly this whole issue is generating more hype than it deserves. It's getting hard to comment however without seeing the movie first. I will likely see it eventually on DVD. By what I'm reading so far most of these folks had to have an idea this was going to be a spoof of some type. One thing I do know is all too often things are off limits for PC reasons which I generally disagree with. As for the old man complaining he appears to most upset about the money, not the impropriety.
