We're a long, long way from that just now.
"I don't think that any of the responsibility lies there,'' he said, referring to the Empire State Building. ''I think a much better place to look are to lawmakers who fail to pass sensible gun control laws. It's mind-boggling to most people that someone can come in from a foreign country on a visitor's visa and buy a gun in the United States, not just a gun but an automatic weapon, 14 rounds, where you can in four or five seconds get 14 bullets out."
And suddenly, before a near-record 20 television cameras from around the nation and the world, the Mayor had transformed the shootings into a national moment of horror that could have happened anywhere because of the National Rifle Association's pressure on Congress.

... he said with no discernible trace of irony.
Check you pings. There's a "sensible guns laws" quote that needs defendin'.
Don't know much about him yet. I only posted about those 3 because they are the ones I see being pushed time and again. They are sure losers in allowed to become our candidate.
'McCain - Keating Five, think we won't hear it."
"Guillani - cheats on wife, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-gun..."
"Gingrich - cheats on not one, but two wives. "
I don't think Jesus is running.... who CAN you support?

WASHINGTON - Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a moderate Republican best known for his stewardship of the city after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has taken the first step in a 2008 presidential bid.

The former mayor filed papers to create the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee, Inc., establishing a New York-based panel that would allow him to raise money to explore a White House run and travel the country.
The four-page filing, obtained by The Associated Press, lists the purpose of the non-profit corporation "to conduct federal 'testing the waters' activity under the Federal Election Campaign Act for Rudy Giuliani."
I don't want anyone to tell me how Rudy is "pro-abort" and then pretend that Bush is "pro-life". Your Federal government has given $1.4 billion to Planned Parenthood since George W. Bush took office. Not once has he ever proposed to cut a single penny from this amount. Pro-life my ass.
Is America ready to elect Barack Hussein Obama their first Muslim heritage President? Is no one going to challenge him on the lies he has told about his grandfather, the rich Muslim landowner, or his father, whose role in supporting a murderous dictatorship has been covered up?
"I'll pose the question in a more simplistic manner: Why is Rudy Giuliani "anti-gun?"
"All gun owners should pass written test
I do not think the government should cut off the right to bear arms. My position for many years has been that just as a motorist must have a license, a gun owner should be required to have one as well. Anyone wanting to own a gun should have to pass a written exam that shows that they know how to use a gun, that theyre intelligent enough and responsible enough to handle a gun. Should both handgun and rifle owners be licensed...were talking about all dangerous weapons.

Bottom line is...Rudy is an anti-gun puke.
WOOOO HOOOO! GO RUDY GO!!!
He'll never make it... I LOVE what Rudy did for NYC, but he'll never be President
I'm still not sure.
I saw him giving a "stump speech" on CSPAN last night at some new hampshire event. he's on his game.
its all about the supreme court picks. If Roe goes, abortion is going back to the states (partial birth is the only thing that's going to get a federal ban).
My prediction is that Rudy will adopt a Libertarian stance on the social issues, such as letting the state legislatures decide it and not activist judges. I'll wait until the primaries to see what Rudy has to offer. I won't be surprised if he moves to the right a little.
Is this worth a ping?
BTW, I've been an NRA lifer since 1991. I have 17 boomers in my house. I reload 9mm, .357, .45 ACP and 12 ga. So I'm coming from a strong pro-gun perspective.
Anyway, labeling Rudy so strongly as ANTI-GUN seems a little harsh.
In 1998 McCain was on top. He didn't survive the primaries. A less well known governor from Texas came from behind and beat him.
Giuliani has a lot of baggage including a dysfunctional family and an erratic personal life. He has praised Ginsberg and Breyer as the very models of good Supreme Court justices.
Giuliani will fade. If he somehow manages to survive the primaries, social conservatives will sit out his election just as they sat out the most recent election. Don't bother to wave Hillary in their faces. Menacing them with the threat of Pelosi didn't do the trick this time, Hillery won't get it done next time.
Romney has none of the personal and family baggage that Giuliani is saddled with. A solid social conservative who lives those values he also has much better business sense than Giuliani has. And he is firmly on record as wanting to put justices like Alito and Roberts on the Supreme Court.
Let Giuliani serve as Attorney General. Or elect him governor of your state.
1. He's bald
2. Has a heavy NY accent
3. Has a strange tic, with his eyes opening wide periodically
4. Has a slight speech impediment
5. Has quite a bit of personal baggage... Donna Hanover- his ex, will gladly go public with all of her gripes
6. 911 will be another 2 years behind us, and his glory will fade even more.
7. He's way more liberal on social issues than any other GOPer, moreso than some of the Dems (or will be portrayed as such)...
8. Bayh or Hillary will hold onto all of Kerry's states, and apathy (towards Rudy) in some of the Western states, like Montana, Nebraska, will allow Bayh or Hillary to win... Bayh only needs to flip his home state of Indiana, and keep all of Kerry's to win.
I could really go on and on.
