Rush Limbaugh Has It Wrong
Logic Times ^ | 11-9-2006 | Dan Hallagan

Rush Limbaugh has it wrong. He stated Wednesday that "[c]onservatism did not lose, Republicanism lost last night. Republicanism, being a political party first, rather than an ideological movement, is what lost last night." (here) This statement – a statement echoed by Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and other conservative pundits to whom a nation of shell-shocked conservatives turned for cathartic analysis – fails a simple test. If the electorate was demanding conservatism, then why did strong, principled conservatives lose? Incumbent conservatives such as Rick Santorum, George Allen, J.D. Hayworth and Curt Weldon to name a few. Superb conservative newcomers such as Ken Blackwell and Michael Steele.

The actions of the electorate last Tuesday was an indiscriminate firing of Republicans, not a thoughtful weeding out of RINOs. It is true that Republicanism lost on Tuesday, but it lost in all its forms – and that included the exact form of strong, clear conservatism that the movement desperately needs.

Rick Santorum accused his democrat opponent as being more pro-life than himself.

Evidentally Rick Santorum was running from the left of his opponent.

Remember his recent divorce?

Yes. He divorced a woman who had ZERO support for his political life and starred in "The Vagina Monologues."

The woman he married stood by his side for many years and especially through 9/11.

I have gay friends who would put me up in times of trouble. I'm sorry you don't.

My friend in Pittsburgh is a big time salesmen for an Insurer who works only large "group" policies. When he started he was told to make sure he was registered Dem because all the Unions etc will check and won't do business with him if he is not.

I watch HGTV for relaxation. I can only take so much mental abuse and I've reached that point, even with Brit Hume.

Congratulations on your gay friends.

If you think that this kind of behavior will fly with the social and religious conservatives who dominate the primaries, you've got another think coming.

I can't disagree with one point you made in your post. I have walked the walk, too.... but I feel like we've been taken for granted.

FreePoster,
I could never disagree with you more my friend. /Grin

As a disciplined conservative I can tell you how it works.

We screwed up. Heck,, I SCREWED UP!

Reform is a Democrat cuss word towards Republicans because
"We are what they aren't". And even though I'm a conservative first,
I still hated the money we tossed around.

Lets see what the Dems will do. Patience is very important from here on out.

Keep your faith my good friend. And work for 2008.
I know I will.

God Bless you my friend,
MaxMax.

"The media scared off the Republicans in Congress and, Bush didn`t take his case to the people. But, never, especially during a War, was the MSM been this hell bent on one side winning an election. Even with talk radio and the internet, most Americans don`t believe that anything good is happening in Iraq and they have forgotten why we are there."

You got it! Thank you, been saying this everywhere the last couple days.

We need a leader/messenger and every conservative knows Bush is not a good speaker. It's been hurting us the most in Iraq.

I think our alienation is just getting wound up for what's to come with immigration reform. That said, I voted straight R and I'm not sorry I did, but I feel like Tony Snows comments on Wednesday was a kick in the gutt.

With the dems so fixated on the voter fraud stuff over the past 6 years it wouldn't surprise me if their was MORE fraud than usual on their side.

They are surprisingly consistent in accusing Republicans of whatever they are up to themselves.

Like Rush said, we don't have to create a new message we just have to get back to the old one.

You're right and we are all over the map right now. It dawns on me what we're missing is leadership, someone Reaganesqe that we can all get behind with great enthusiasm. I don't want a RINO, but for 2008, if it will keep Hillary out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., I'll gladly vote for Rudy or even Romney.
