mehlman was a fag, and everyone knows it. he talked a lot and made a lot of people feel like they were being played, even if the things he said were true. he's got a political good boy staffer persona even at his mid-life age. good riddance. now can we please get someone with some testosterone and some respectability?

Well, if we accept a social liberal as a Presidential Candidate, we learned nothing from this 2006 election debacle. The Religious Right will never accept Rudy Giuliani, no matter how good a mayor of New York City me may have been. The character flaws and liberal beliefs don't match up at all.

There was confusion on my part. In 2004, Mehlman was the Bush-Cheney campaign manager and Ed Gillespie was the RNC Chair.

Replace him with B1 Bob Dornan.

Agreed. I think he should be a VP nominee. If for no other reason than to give him to some time to prove to the country that he can be the right kind of leader. People don't trust him because of the NYC liberal stuff, which I understand. The thing is that they don't know Rudy. Once they get to know him, they'll understand him a lot better.

He lost by so small a margin. He can come back. Allen is too good to write off.

Is it just me or is it strange that a gay man was the head of the party of "family values"?

Let the house cleaning continue cause there isn't much time before 2008.

It's a shame to lose him and Santorum.

After this campaign, clearly Santorum is the greater loss.

Given how bad Allen's campaign was, I can't believe he was ever elected to begin with. Sad, sad, sad campaign.

Santorum has more drive, brains and talent. Really too bad to lose him. And I know he stabbed Toomey in the back. Still, he was very effective and had a prospect for bigger things.

This shouldn't be surprising. They usually step down after an election.

"There was confusion on my part. In 2004, Mehlman was the Bush-Cheney campaign manager and Ed Gillespie was the RNC Chair."

Then I suppose, according to the wording of our posts in a 'in what the meaning of the word is, is' sort of way, we were both right. But for different reasons lol.

Nixon came back rather well and he was totally written off after two major losses.

Hey, I like Rudy too, but without the Conservative Christian vote (of which I am), ANY candidate is toast. Believe me, I would vote for Rudy over Hillary any day, but a lot of Christians just don't understand politics and that you MUST stop the Dims no matter how much don't like your choice on the right. They don't REALLY understand how dangerous the progressives are. All that to say, Rudy could not pull it off. Same reason Mitt will never win. Evangelicals, in mass, will never vote for a Mormon.

Not to mention, we are about to hand the Left the Hispanic vote. Without the far right any '08 Repub is a goner.

Nobody cares if you are gay. I could see if you were posting this as a reply to someone that said something derogatory about gay people, but why are you asking this of the person that did nothing more than post the article?

Didn't say it NEVER happens, just not common. Nixon also came back without the likes of CNN and the WaPo, ect.

He would get so much more of the middle and he's so much more likable that he'd trounce Hillary, I think.

Still, you're right about Christian Conservatives, which is why I suggest going as VP first to prove to the people that he can be conservative.

Would love to see it. Although, you have to say, he was really stupid to give the media fodder with the Macacca thing.
