Some moderate views but not a true moderate. I like Steele. His views are close to mine and I think he would be a great leader of the party. Check out where he stands:

Really? Well, he's being pretty quiet about it. Frankly, no way he'd win. too much baggage, like Kennedy, but without the death attributed to bim.

What was Ann's reaction about the elections. I did not hear what she had to say.

An intense and losing campaign often changes someone for the worse -- but not so in Steele's case. The man has courage and character, which are rare commodities that merit advancement. If good enough for the US Senate, he is surely good enough to run the RNC.

The new Congress isn't sworn in until January 3, 2007.

Granted, new blood is a good idea. But what did Mehlman have to do with the do-nothing Senate and House scandals? He didn't lose the election. Our elected representatives did.
Doh! Had a brain fart there. I knew that. In Kentucky, our state officials are sworn in in December. Just a mix-up.
Can't think of a better man than Steele.
Old Ted was a bomber pilot in WW II. He could still fly one of those B-29s if he had to.
For the reason you said. New blood is needed.
Lord, save us. He destroyed the Republican party in Colorado during his tenure as governor. We held the house, the senate and the governorship six years ago. Both Senators were Republican. Today, as he leaves office with high popularity ratings, we have nothing but one US Senator who is retiring and will be replaced by a Democrat. He made several TERRIBLE tactical decisions that destroyed the party.
This guy was inept as a party leader; but good a being personally popular--he's good looking, a great speaker, and a great debater.
By a few thousand votes in a few states.
This country is and was a 50/50 nation where the a shift of 2% causes tremendous change. The 2% shift worked for us before, this time it worked against us.
Now don't take the above to mean we don't need to do soul searching and get back to first principles, we do. It just means the road back need not take a long time.
