Bush eyes Democrats for help on amnesty
The Washington Times ^ | November 9, 2006 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 11/09/2006 2:14:10 AM PST by NapkinUser

President Bush yesterday said he will team up with Democrats to pass an immigration bill with a guest-worker program that his own party blocked this year, and his Republican opponents predicted a bloody intraparty fight but said they cannot stop such a bill from passing.

"We will fight it, we will lose. It will go to the Senate, it will pass. The president will sign it. And it will happen quickly because that's one thing they know they can pass," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican and chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, who had led the opposition to a guest-worker plan. "I am absolutely horrified by this prospect, but I have to face reality."

Mr. Bush supported a bipartisan majority in the Senate this year that passed a broad immigration bill including a new worker program and citizenship rights for millions of illegal aliens. But House Republicans blocked those efforts, calling them an amnesty, and instead forced through a bill to erect nearly 700 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Conspiracy Theory: Now we know why the Bush's, Murdoughs and the RINOs were so friendly with the Clintons and left so many of the Clinton appointees/operatives in positions within State, Intelligence and Judiciary. All one can say is at least GWB is better than Gore or Kerry...as it turns out in the long run to have not been the case??

Oh poor you. Hard to legitimately feel betrayed by President Bush when his immigration positions were known to all in elections 2000 and 2004.

The GOP House was our saving grace. It's gone!

If you want to feel betrayed, lay the betrayal on the "teach the GOP a lesson and stay at home voters." They're the ones who betrayed those of who voted.

My thoughts also. A man is better judged by his action than his words. The NWO will never take place with conservatives blocking the way. If this is Bush's real mission all along we are headed for the end time fast. Is world socialism not far off?

President Bush yesterday said he will team up with Democrats to pass an immigration bill with a guest-worker program that his own party blocked this year,

I hesitate to suggest this, but since GW doesn't appear to care about rebuilding his own party, it may be time for Republicans in Congress to break with this President.

Now is the time to get out of a bed with Democrats, not get more cozy.

The Republicans could not get anything done with the majority now I seriously doubt that the Democrats will be able to get anything done either. Our turn to obstruct.

The question, how important is his illegal alien plan to him?

That should be obvious to anyone who watched how he lit up when he got that question from a reporter.

He literally gushed all over like a kid who just woke up on Christmas morning to see a brand new bike (okay, I'm a little long in the tooth, so maybe the latest computer game)sitting under the tree.

IF Bush wants to ensure that Conservatives stay home in 08, he apparently doesn't show the least bit of concern and I fear this is just the first step towards a very slippery slope which will have him "rubber stamping" (VETO? NEVER IN HELL GOING TO HAPPEN!!) anything they plunk down on his desk.

I just turned 63, am a Nam Vet and have NEVER participated in any protest or any such activity.

However, IF we should get attacked again and it is shown the Terries came thru our [un]protected Southern Border; and though I voted for W (twice) I will be standing in front of the White House with a sign calling for his impeachment!!!!

Anyone got a pic of W wearing a skirt? I fear we are going to see something like it posted regularly over the next 2 years as W apparently is just another Republican Girlie Man.

I can just see it now as Bush sits around the oval office with Reid and Pelosi: "Lets just all go along to gitt along, okay Harry" and Nancy, "will you lead us in another verse of Kumbaya?"

The Republicans could not get anything done with the majority

That's because the Republicans in Congress (the House) were bucking their own President and they treaded lightly.

now I seriously doubt that the Democrats will be able to get anything done either. Our turn to obstruct.

I wish you were right. But, the President now has a Congress he can work with on this issue. Look for amnesty to pass and a WH signing ceremony with Democrats standing behind GW.

So they are going to push through this amnesty, and give these criminals a road to citizenship, while people who have applied to immigrate here legally wait in line overseas 10 to 30 years. Something is downright immoral with their action.

More than a bad idea. Millions of more lock-step Democrat voters will be the death of us. The inmates will OWN the asylum.

Well I for one and I know I will be flamed, but we really need to calm down on this immigration thing. These people are not idiots and we are alienating Hispanics. I think a fair compromise that is not amnesty can be reached, but not if everyone digs in and holds their breath.

More Democrats voted Tuesday then did Republicans. The base decided to skip the election so we now live with the mess.

Oddly I don't know any Democrats who favor amnesty. I know there must be some but since I don't know any of them I can't ask them...WHY?!?!?!?!!

Just told my wife and oldest son that this is the beginning of the end as the illegal immigration will now explode onto the scene. The Democrats will make sure they allow their political base into the nation as fast as possible to see that they never leave power again. The nation is finished.
