Abandoning Iraq
RealClearPolitics ^ | November 8, 2006 | David Warren

Regardless of its final composition, and regardless of other pressing issues or its mandate, the leading item of business for the new U.S. Congress will be Iraq.

<--snip-->

The fate that will befall all those millions of courageous Iraqis, showing the dye on their fingers after they had voted -- in defiance of all the terror threats -- will not come as a surprise to me, either. They are being sold out, as the Vietnamese were before them. But the consequences of abandoning Iraq will come home to the United States and the West, in a way Vietnam never touched us.

That is the only comfort I have--the traitorous voters who delivered our soldiers into the hands of the enemy will reap what they have sown.

Pulling out might be the lesser of two evils, given that the alternative might be that the Dems would hamstring and de-fund the military, then use the bodies of our soldiers as fodder to bash Bush and the Republicans for two years.

Truly depressing. It will be up to us to fight in our own yards.

Most will just convert, even if it is by the sword.

We don't really know any of this yet - the Dems have yet to present a plan. Didn't think they could be elected on the basis of not having a plan on the number one campaign issue but I was wrong.

Now they're going to have to put up or shut up. A sudden withdrawal would place them in a precarious position politically and so I don't think it's on the front burner. But the demagoguery alone isn't going to cut it from here on in.

The latter: I must simply hope that my son and my nephews make it out of Afghanistan and Iraq, respectively, in one piece.

The former: I'm looking for a site that's defensible, has good water, and is upwind of any major cities.

Just learned today that that's an apartment building near the embassy, not the embassy itself.

they will come destroying / crippling your infrastucture/ and your cities

you will not have to fight

the fighting that should have gone in to the preventative measures is overdue

Another generation of American Soldiers stripped of the honor they fought and died for. Followed by another half century of triumphalism from the left.

The american voters spoke yesterday and said OUT OF IRAQ.
The dems better not keep them there one more day.
No more blaming Bush

There is no "lesser" evil here.
