This is just crossing my desk now; nothing follows yet. According to some sources this is the subject of the noon presser.
My vote is Tommy Franks. But Duke Nukem would be a nice second choice.
No, It's time to appoint Norman Schwarzkopf.
Jessie Ventura
I don't think Bush did it. I think Rummy's fed up.
"imho Rummy did it for the good of the country."
And how's that for the good of the country?
Appeasing DEMONcrats who DO want to "cut and run"?
Have those that lost their lives over there be for NOTHING.
Once again, a piece of information that would have been nice to have known YESTERDAY!!!
McCain?
Not all Americans did, of course, but your comment reflects what I've been feeling ever since last night. I'm absolutely sick over the thought of how this may affect our troops.
I am LITERALLY changing my party affiliation later today.

All part and parcel of the stubbornness which overcame the GOP this year. Rummy should have left months ago, which would have given the President a great opportunity to turn the page on Iraq, with new faces and approaches. Rummy served this nation well. But his pussyfooting in Iraq simply overwhelmed the natural patience of the American people. Americans don't give a crap how many Iraqi civilians we kill, so long as we win decisively. Instead we pussyfooted around Fallujah, investigated our men men incessantly, left Al Sadr alive (can you imagine MacArthur doing that?) and never took revenge for those charred and mutilated American bodies (again, Al Sadr should have died for that alone).
The DUmmies must be having a field day. I'm sure they are chanting for Rove's head next.
Good point.
Because, like it or not, the people have spoken. And they are NOT happy.
bttt
There is merit in this. Rumsfeld will be targetted by the investigations. The President would have had to invoke Executive Privilege to shield him from testifying and that would have perpetuated the lightning rod for 2008.
By resigning he can make himself available to testify and be done with it. And if this explanation is explicitly made, it makes perfect sense.
Oh yeah. Rush just said it is going to get worse. God help the country!
Okay....I am officially pi$$ed.
This makes me sick.
Now the question is, who's the next SecDef going to be?Sam Nunn?

They'll just find another punching bag.
