"I'm sorry, perhaps I have misrepresented myself, I am not one of those "it was the wrong thing to do" types. I supported the war, I STILL do, and I am SICK of it. I am sure you are as well, I mean, wouldn't we ALL want it to be over by now? I'm not blaming ANYONE, sh*t just happens, but I am saying that if _I_ am sick of it, I can imagine a swing voter (who is not very principled) is sicker than I am, and would easily allow that to change his vote."

The thing is, it won't be over, this isn't something like wars of the past. We can't negotiate with the terrorists and have peace eventually---they hate us, they see us as infidels and their demented plan is to take over the world, they want to be in the White House--this was something said by them in their training tapes. So while everyone hates the war on terror, don't expect it to be over. These people are not going to stop unless we stop them. This should have been made more clear to the American people, and I really don't think it ever was, not good enough IMO.

I completely agree. Swing voters are pretty shallow creatures, get all their news from Television, so its easy to see how they got swayed this time.

I agree entirely. This is the worst part about last night's results. Much of the rest of the damage the Dems will do can be repaired, but if we leave Iraq, it will be taken over by whichever Islamofascist dictator can defeat his competitors, and the Iraqi people's hope for democracy will be lost. And the world's trust in the U.S. will be gone. Oppressed people everywhere will decide--correctly--that America cannot be relied on, and that it's useless to fight for their own liberty. It will be 100 years before that lesson fades.

Shoot, I don't want to sound despairing. I hope I'm totally wrong about all this. But the news about Rumsfeld's resignation is a severe blow. What must our troops be thinking?
