Republican Drake holds Virginia House seat

Virginia Republican Rep. Thelma Drake on Tuesday defeated her Democratic challenger in a conservative and heavily military district, keeping the seat for Republicans trying to hang on to control of the House of Representatives.

CNN.com and CBSNews.com projected that Drake won a second term against Democrat Phil Kellam, a local official in Virginia Beach. The district has a high concentration of military personnel and veterans, and the race was competitive because of voter doubts about the Iraq war and possible military base closings.

Actually the vote was close because the challenger was a member of a "Va Beach Mafia" family.Typical Dem.
