We held our base solidly. But the GOP didn't hold the independents. It's that simple

WRONG. At least here in MD, the base did not come out on the eastern shore and in western Md.
Lets not forget a lot of dems in the south and mid west ran as conservatives. I know what will happen when they get to DC...they will be socialists. But they fooled enough people.
