"" It says conservatives aren't the problem. It says conservatives were right they should have acted more conservatively, since conservative campaigns won for some of these Dems. It says to me the moderates they fell over backward to reach don't have a scrap of loyalty."

Once again, a beautiful post!"

I'm having some interest in the response to that post. Some are practically in hysterics--the same sort of attitude displayed to anti-illegals, critics of the Harriet Miers nomination, the critics of out of control spending, the torpedoing of conservative candidates in exchange for those who were perceived as 'pliable' by certain administration types....the list gets longer.

I'm waiting, just waiting, for some of the responders to blame conservatives for the loss. The warnings on this site (which have been much muted for some time now) are bearing some bitter fruit.

In a nutshell, the Rockefeller types did it to themselves. (BTW, for the crazy types in the attic, I DID vote. And, in crucial races, for the Republican. Certain other votes were for conservative candidates.)

Read through the thread closely. Several of the moderates and RINOs have already blamed real conservatives for the loss. And, like you, I voted Republican in the crucial races.

I agree whole heartedly. At the polls today where I worked there was not doubt that the tried and true conservaties marked their ballots for the pubbies even though they had to hold their nose. It was not the conservatives that lost this election it was the moderates in our party that deserted. As it was in the past and ever shall be.

Oh, they were trying to blame conservatives a few days ago. Now that conservatives turned out, they are still trying to blame us. Uh-uh. Not having it.

McCain ran a "Moderate" mutiny the last two years blocking real conservative successes. The net result? Dems run conservative campaigns and win, because the liberal Reps jumped ship and some Indy's favored the conservative campaigns.

The same voters some on this board claimed were the "real" loyalty block for the GOP abandoned the Republicans whether it be Santorum (conservative), Chafee (Liberal) or DeWine (Moderate). Wile conservatives, screwd time and again the last couple of years, sucked it up and voted. I will take NO lectures from that crowd tonight. Their side didn't hold up their end.

Republican country clubbers and moderates will think twice next time they want to pee on the right side of the base.
Most of the right side base came out to vote too.
Without the right side base the GOP is toast.
Liberals will drag this nation into the cesspool but we the GOP base will be in their way.
