Webb is ahead by a few thousand votes and there's going to be a recount; Webb says he's won.

And, of course, all of the "true conservatives" have just played their part in dooming any effort there. I mean, even if (when?) we win a majority in Congress back in 2008, do you think that any future President (of either party) will be willing to make the effort that Bush made on the issue?By that logic, the democrats would have abandonned socialism in 1994 when they were defeated.
For all of Bush's positives, he does have a deficiency when it comes to getting his message across. Social Security was a good example - I know the MSM hates him but he didn't do himself any favors on the issue either.
I hope this will finally end the ridiculous ranting that goes on here about how the polls are wrong, broken glass, GOTV, blah blah blah...
There were people here honestly expecting us to pick up seats!
The polls were right on. Rove had no master plan. You can't overcome 3 months of being behind by double digits with wishful thinking. The DUmmies are thanking Bush. We should too. His war, our loss. Admit it or deny it, it is a fact.

If you don't want Democrats in control of taxes, terrorism, immigration ETC then you vote for someone who can defeat them, not some Libertarian or Constitution Party candidate...or stay home and watch the Dems build up votes when you could have countered one of them. I voted for Perot, I know what a disaster such a reaction can bring about. It IS voting for the other strong party, if you don't support the one closest to your own beliefs.

Corker has already been declared the winner. He defeated Harold Edsel Ford.

The Dems that got elected are all moderate. I wonder how long the luster lasts with Pelosi in charge.

Staying at home or voting for a 3rd party is not helping to elect the democrats. Actually voting for a democrat is the only thing that helps elect them. This is so totally wrong. To defeat a Democrat, you must vote for his opponent. Moreover, his opponent must receive more votes. This is not rocket science.

"When did Pelosi say that?" Heheh that is the problem with the way FR is designed, sometimes it is hard to see the context of a post.
Many posts before that the guy I posted to was saying we need to attack in Syria and somewhere else.
The post you replied to of mine was my prognostication of what would happen if President Bush said did invade somewhere else.

And you think with a Dem house that you're gonna get spending cuts?Did I say I wanted a Dem House? I said that the increase in spending would repel a certain number of republican voters.
To: furquhart
Man, I wish we'd spent more money there, instead of dumping it into the sinkhole that is New Jersey. That was a dumb move. Yep. Can we give up on ever thinking that New Jersey will elect a Republican again already? They pride themselves on voting for corrupt RATs. If the sainted Tom Kean's son couldn't win, then nobody can.
To: marajade
That's a puzzler, for sure.
The one from NC, Schuler, ran as a pro-life Christian.
They seem to be a new breed of Democrats; I wonder how they will mesh with the freaking lunatics.
To: JeffAtlanta
Democrats didn't try to push Hillarycare after 1994, did they?
Heck, the whole defining character of the Democrat Party after 1994 was Clinton's "triangulation."
That's got to be what Bush and others are thinking right now, given how well it worked in Califorinia - and for Clinton.
