Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
It would be for Republicans who can remember 1973.
What needs to happen starting tomorrow, is the Republican party needs to take a good hard look at itself and figure out what their base wants out of it.
No, this is the election. Several candidates were in the 'special election' category because of redistricting, including my congressman, Lamar Smith. Bonilla needs at least 50% to avoid a run-off. I've been working hard for Bonilla the last 2 weeks.
Well, a ballot like that will surely get the Dem voters to the polls, eh?
Remember the guy in 2000 who had the sign that said, "Want more? Vote Gore!"
Oh, pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease, Virginia...
Just got back from voting. How's Talent doing in Missouri?!
I don't know who they are but they'll blame POTUS for their losses regardless. Cowards all.
Amen!
My biggest regret is that this breathes new life into the "hostile media", as Lynne Cheney so appropriately labeled them.
I shudder at the thought of the nat'l security leaks that will pour out of the Dem house. I cringe at the thought of OBL and all the "insurgents" celebrating tonight, emboldened that their "Madrid strategy" worked again.
Most of all: I hate thinking how much of the world embraces these returns.
You nailed it! I have thought for a while the ONLY way this country will be united against the threats against us is for dems to get in office , because THEN the MSM will tout good vibes and the dems won't be throwing temper tantrums all the time.
Conversely, the GOP will be mature and rise to the occasion of taking serious issues seriously, regardless of whether they are in power or not. They (we)know what is at stake..we are not celebrity-besotted naive infants.
We have to face it, we are being controlled by an immature, shallow, mind-numbed, entertainment addicted electorate that cannot be bothered to be grown up enough to read below the headlines --headlines that the messianic (in their own deluded minds) MSM spoon feeds to them.
I hate to say it will probably take another terrible wake up call to jolt our citizens into awareness that there is such when it comes to survival.
I'm 48, and you are right.
Clinton winning a second term was worse. Gore winning the popular vote, and Kerry coming very close weren't as bad, but say a lot about where our nation is.
There is still a lot to fight for.
"That's a nice bumper sticker, and perhaps there's some level of validity to it, but we forced freedom on Japan, ...and Germany, ...and Italy."
We did that only after utterly defeating them and crushing their religion/ideology. We didn't do that in Iraq. That level of destruction wouldn't be "nice" and Islam is a "religion of peace".
We didn't FORCE freedom on them after that. They were ready for it.
Thanks for your optimism/cheerleading PD. You are right, as usual. Sleep tight.
have not heard on the hammer's seat.
Well, the talk for months has been how the GOP needs to "get rid" of the social conservatives and move left to center.
We shall see.
Delay's seat is gone. Write-in vote split between two candidates.
Where are you getting the MD info? I can't get anything off the board of elections site.
We did not lose tonight because of election fraud by Democrats.
Let's not spend a second deceiving ourselves that we did.
We lost because the majority of the American people do not support the current Republican agenda and leadership.
Howlikn!!! How the heck are ya, girl!
Hey! I've had a glass or two, so bear with me - what was the name of that Senator in Oklahoma I had a crush on? The one who was first to jump ugly on Trent Lott?? He retired. What was his name?
I am frankly relieved. We have not bowed to historical trends, but have worked to effect our own destiny.
Might be - just looked at the SOS website, and right now, Collins and Burns are both loosing, though. It'll be close.
