A GOP Massacre: A Bloody Tuesday (Dick Morris)
New York Post ^ | November 6, 2006 | By Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

November 6, 2006 -- THE latest polls portend disaster for the Republican Party tomorrow. The House appears to be gone; the Senate is teetering on the brink.

John Zogby's polling is tracking 15 swing House districts, and he finds Democratic leads in 13. Since Dems need only 15 to take control - and will doubtless pick up several not on Zogby's list - it seems we're in for several years of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In the Senate, only Tennessee seems to be holding for the Republicans. (There's no justice: Rep. Harold Ford Jr., the Democrat now losing to Republican Bob Corker, is the best of the crop of Democratic challengers).

Other Senate races? Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island are gone for the GOP. Republican fantasies of a rebound in Montana are falling short. It's down to Missouri and Virginia: Democrats need to win both to take control. In these states, pollster Scott Rasmussen has GOP incumbents Jim Talent and George Allen below the 50 percent mark - usually a sign of doom. Rasmussen has Allen tied with Democrat Jim Webb at 49 percent and Democrat Claire McCaskill ahead of Talent 49-48.

Plus, the war in Iraq has divided the Republicans - the isolationist Pat Buchanans are abandoning an internationalist president.

First the Republicans lost their virtue; now they'll lose their majority, at least in the House. What's ahead for the next two years? Not new legislation so much as investigations, subpoenas, hearings etc. Washington will be as effectively paralyzed as it was during President Clinton's impeachment trial. And, let us remember that it was in that incubator that Osama bin Laden was able to plan the 9/11 attacks.

President Bush will be dodging document requests, defending his administration's integrity and battling each day's sensational headlines supposedly uncovering scandal after scandal.

Is this supposed to be bad news? A chance that America will get to see democrat control - and the results at their finest- for 2 years before the next Presidential election?

The man used to suck the toes of hookers in between giving advice to Clinton and people still take him seriously??

Hey! You know, there ARE some decent people who occassionally hang out with shady characters... So you shouldn't think badly of all hookers, just because SOME used to hang out with Dick Morris.

Okay, I reckon that at this point, Dick has officially taken every possible position on this election. Am I far wrong?

Because, of course, only DEMS can pick up seats not on Zogby's list - never Republicans. What a genius...

Wasn't Dick saying something different yesterday? I don't understand why people listen to him. He's nothing but a slimy attention whore and is a terrible commentator.

Now wait just a flea flickin minute!?!

I read a story only yesterday where Morris said that the election was tightening and depending on the polls over the weekend the GOP could very well hold both the house and senate. All the weekend polls showed the republicans closing the gap by huge amounts and clearly with the momentum going into tuesday.

Now were back to A GOP Massacre! A Bloody Tuesday! Did the DNC send Morris a larger consultant fee than the RNC this weekend ?!?

Sorry for the rant but this idiot can't even be consistent over 48 hours...

"Dick Morris has been badly wrong in the last 4 election cycles."

Actually, his comments as the 2004 election climaxed were very accurate, which was especially startling (and welcome) given the inaccurate exit polling trumpeted by the media.

Dick Morris can't make up his mind from one day to the next. I'm not reading his garbage.

It's looking like Tammy Duckworth is going to beat out Peter Roskam for Henry Hyde's seat in the 6th District - IL. So far as litmus tests go, this is a very bad harbinger for the GOP, given DuPage County's heavy Republican voter rolls. I'm hoping that the Dem turnout is traditionally weak and that this race is an anomaly. Roskam is a very good candidate. Duckworth is a Anti-Iraq, Iraqi war vet who supports abortion and hates our efforts overseas. The notion that she's on the verge of claiming the seat of the venerable Henry Hyde sends a shiver down my spine.

I doubt it, especially with the VFW endorsing Roskam, but nice try at trolling, ain't going to work.

If Dick Morris ever decides to change careers, his next one really should be a *suicide hotline* counselor. Your life would hang on which day you happened to call him.

Sorry, Dane. The Roskam signs on my front lawn belie your silly accusation of trolling. Why don't you have a dose of reality instead of smoking the GOP hookah. If party-line GOP'ers weren't so insistent on embarrassing themselves in public, we wouldn't be in the precarious position we're in today.

Washington will be as effectively paralyzed as it was during President Clinton's impeachment trial.

So some good will come of this, then.

By the way, you're living in a narcotic cloud if you think a VFW endorsement amounts to anything.
