Anybody know the length of time between the verdict being announced and the date it's carried out? (It would be cool if it's announced at 3 A.M. ET and by 3:30 A.M. ET they've got him swinging from the gallows!)
Iraqi law says 30 days, but I think the Americans have introduced an appeal process.
(Unfortunately, in this instance) an automatic appeal is mandated on the occasion of a death sentence. Never mind the on-going trials. My personal over-under call is 3 years from the initial verdict.
In the Arab world the carrying out of the sanction happens in short period of time after the sentence. In most cases it is no more than few weeks, it can be as short as few hours.
