Actually,

I just ran the idea by my husband, that I couldn't possibly, in any way, stand by and watch a group of people literally try to kill a defenseless person, even if I had to wade in with a kitchen chair...

He said I'd better forgo the gun, the first shot fired not directly in defense of myself and *I'd* be the one in jail for assault with a deadly weapon. "Flag'em'all Feinstein" would see to it.

I don't get it. But then I'm still trying to figure out how a BOLT-ACTION with a 12 round clip and a flash suppressor could possibly be considered an "Assault Weapon". Maybe I'm just not nuanced enough...

I think the word "assault" would get skewed by the lawyers... as in you using a bolt-action gun to ASSAULT a person. Gun grabbers in CA don't give two rats for the law, from the get-go.

And yea, I'm like you -- I could not stand by, and do nothing to help the person being assailed. You must have had good parents. :)
