But will it ever be over?--and why not just stay on our own ground and fight from itsa boarders? Less deaths of all those Young troops and less crushed the families.

This is an interesting posting, wishing for our troops to fight the terrorists in the streets of New York, Kansas City, Denver.

It will come here if it isn't finished over there, be sure of that. It might come here anyway.

Well, when the fight comes to our soil and my wife and children are targets, will you be our human shield?

Because, Rosary, over there is where the problem lies right now. If we pull up stakes and come back home, the problem will follow us here. And it will be emboldened to attack other allies, such as Europe and Asia and the South Pacific. Besides, we have raised the hopes of a nation that it will have a fighting chance to build a new democratic reality and we don't run from promises.
Think for a moment how long it took to help Germany and Japan set up their new national governments. There were many years of occupation before they were ready to assume the responsibility for themselves. We have to be sure the powers-that-were under Hussein don't becomes the powers-that-be now because it will just revert to what it was before.
We don't colonize and we don't abandon our friends and allies at their most vulnerable points.

Do you really want suicide bombers and IEDs at the mall?

It would be worse here if we allow it to build. Just as it is easier to cure a cancer when it is in a less delicate place and less invasive, so to is it easier to fight terror/fanatical Islam when it is contained and not metastasized. That is what we are doing.
I too pray for the war to endin victory for us and for the hard-working patriotic Iraqis who know what they can be. IOW, the good-guys.
I am in this until the job is done.

You are either jesting, or you are without a clue as to who we are fighting.
The enemy we are engaged with have been after us from their founding.
Mohammad has been after the "NON-believer" since day one.
You seem to be of the opinion that if we could just all get along
everything will be...hunky dorrie. Well it won't.
Please, please get your head out of the sand.
Nobody wants war, we want peace but they won't let us have it,
so we go to war, and let them play on their home field.

Be sure of this.
If a threat remains in a region, the troops will remain.
The numbers may drop significantly, but the presence remains.
See Japan, Korea, Germany, Singapore, Eritrea, Egypt, Bosnia, Spain, and others that cannot be mentioned.
We will have a presence in the Middle East for many, many years.

I do not want fighting on the streets of our cities which is exactly what will happen if Iraq is left to the terrorists.

Less deaths of all those Young troops and less crushed the families. Who's families??? You want to protect the terrorist's families and have them come here and kill your's?? That's insane.
I don't want suicide bombers blowing up buses, I don't want our police blown up while they are trying to protect you and I don't want our firefighters dying while trying to put out the flames that you think should be in our streets.
