My head isn't stuck in the sand or elsewhere. Bush is no Reagan, but the individual candidate doesn't have to be. It isn't eloquence that carries the day, it is honest belief plainly stated. And Bush CAN afford good speechwriters...
I am aware there is a cultural war going on, as well as two real wars. And I voted for Randy Graf here is AZ 8, although the RNC has done its best to get Giffords elected instead.
Karl Rove is supposed to advise the President on the political implications of decisions. If Karl couldn't figure out Harriet was a major flub, or that amnesty for illegals was bad, or that spending like a drunk sailor wouldn't endear the republican party to its base - then Karl is damn stupid!
And I'm not harming the republican party by pointing that fact out!
