I don't think Ortega is going to get 35% of the vote, but blaming that potential outcome on Oliver North is ridiculous.

This Daniel Ortega? The communist Ortega seen here with his friends Democrat Senators John Kerry of Massachusetts and Tom Harkin of Iowa?
Is it THAT Daniel Ortega?

Ollie is disappointed that Condi Rice and the gang at the State Department are backing a third candidate who is splitting the anti-Sandinista vote and has no chance of winning.
The Liberal Party candidate is polling around 25-30 percent and Ollie supports him. But Ortega is up around 40 percent and the third loser that the Administration supports is somewhere around 15 percent.
How many times have we been told not to support a third party that has no chance of winning? The State Department didn't get the message because that's exactly what they are doing allowing Ortega to come back and God knows what happpens next.

What I find really fascinating about this article (and a better one in The Wall Street Journal, yesterday), is that it shows how many Nicaraguans like and respect the Col. North and what became of the Contras. American leftists have been convincing people that the Contras were the bad guys but this reveals that many Nicaraguans definitely don't feel that way.
