"panicked" - about what ..??
I knew about the bogus polling - our own DrDeb kept showing us the inside details and how the pollsters were using 11-16% oversampling of dems. You can get any numbers you want when you do that.
I don't see how the info they released changes the chances of the repubs retaining congress.
Okay .. I guess I'm missing the point - explain please.

Because they know how far off the data IS.
They and the Dims behind them are in the midst of a very well orchestrated attempt to keep the GOP voter at home, its literally their ONLY prayer of winning. This is a last ditch attempt to disillusion that GOP voter just that much more to keep him/her home.
Only problem is that they shot themselves in the head, they just gave credence to documents that PROVE the Bush administration RIGHT in going to war in Iraq. Yea, some stuff that should not have been on the Internet got up there, but lets be honest, its NOTHING that countries attempting to produce Nuclear weapons don't ALREADY know! The point is: the NYT spent the last several years DISMISSING the documents THEY NOW SITE IN AN ATTEMPT TO SMEAR THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE GOP WITH 5 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION! They just made ALL of them CREDIBLE!!!! That's how I define Panic. If they had given it a moments thought, they would NEVER have published that story unless 1) they are REALLY stupid (granted that's possible) or 2) because they DESPERATELY believed it NECESSARY to publish it in order to sway the election, given they KNOW how squed the numbers are, they KNOW they need something to tip em over.... Bingo. Publish it in the hopes no one GET'S it. Oops, we GET it Dims, a whole lot better than you, which is WHY you should NEVER be allowed to hold power again. Yea we get it. More importantly, so did President Bush in sending the U.S. into War!

"panicked" - about what ..?? Well, there has been a lot of talk about investigations that would occur should the Democrats take over the House, but there has been very little talk about investigations that will happen if Republicans keep the House. Namely, investigations of leaking of state secrets by the NY Times. Bill Keller and others at the Times stand a real chance of being prosecuted if Republicans retain the majority.
