All we need to know is that the First Gulf War proved that Saddam was much farther along in his technology for developing nuclear armaments than we knew; and that was confirmed again in 1995 when his main nuclear physicist defected to the West and reported what he knew. For all the details, see Kenneth Pollock's book, the Threatening Storm.

In the post-9/11 world, the US and the West could no longer glide along hoping that he was not developing a Nuke, not in a situation (between 1998 and 2002) when there were no UN inspectors in Iraq.

All true, but I don't know what they're planning to put in this "news" story...could be good, could be bad, but either way, it will be interesting.

Pollock's book was quite good. Afterward, like most of the Liberals (he'd worked for Clinton, by the way), he developed amnesia on what he'd written and said. Future historians will call it the best kept secret the MSM ever cooperated in keeping.
