"Things have probably changed; but when I entered the Army, a woman had to have a significantly higher score than that required of a man in order to enlist."
Score on what test?
And the rationale for that was?

In effect, it was an "entrance exam." I can't remember what it was called, but this is what I remember of it.
IF a male recruit scored lower than 27 (?), he was not allowed to join; and if a female recruit scored lower than 50, she was not allowed to join.
I know that these tests were broken up and scored in another way to determine what MOS a recruit would be allowed to enter.
:-)
I had no problem with this: A woman was not allowed to be an 11B (grunt), so her entry would necessitate an MOS which might require a higher score.
I'm sure that this has all changed. :-) This was in the early '70's.
