I understand your points, and do agree with many.
But I think I differ in one key regard -- I believe we are already at war with Iran. I think that most of the killing going on over there now is caused by Iranian trained, supplied and directed nut-jobs. And I think this administration's choice of tactics to fight Iran has been to bleed them by placing a bridge-head on both sides of them.
I don't think it's coincidence we hit Afganistan and Iraq. I think it was all done with keeping the idea of Iran in check, and contained. Perhaps that was even the plan from the beginning.
I don't believe a full-scale military invasion is part of the strategy.
And Korea, I think, is not really that important to us.
:-D
I've been happily married for 23 years, so no.
But I'm talking about reasoning with people, using logic. That wouldn't work on women anyway, would it?

Oh, god, now I just ticked off a whole 'nother group of people!
Hi.
Consider that I don't mean that any combat is easy. I know all war is hell. Facing death every day, sometimes finding it, it's bad.
Now, my point was that the enemy has never once threatened to have even the slightest chance for a military victory. We've lead from start to finish, on the ground. We control most of the territory, we kill more of them than they kill of us, we beat them in any battle they choose to stand and fight.
Militarily, we are beating them so bad we're wining in a cake-walk.
Compared to other actions in the past like Omaha beach, or Verdun, or Pickett's charge . . . this has been a cake-walk.
Perspective is important. A kid is born blind. It could be worse, he could have been born without a working brain. Etc, etc. I'm an optimist. My point is, it could be worse. This isn't as bad as it gets. This is not a 'disaster'. This is not a 'loss'. This is not too hard for us to win.
This is easy to win. We just stay, and we win.
Yes, men and women will die. But those men and women are killing more of the enemy than they lose. They hold the ground. They fight to protect innocents every day.
And they're kicking butt so bad we're winning in a cake-walk, militarily.
We certainly can't all be as level-headed and eloquent as thee, sir.
:-)
How old are you? NK will do as they very well please and have proved it so 28 years ago. When I posted our policy with Korea was starting to look like LBJ part two I meant where night after night LBJ made empty threats he had no intentions of backing up to the NK government.
A hostile act of war was done against the United States by NK and all he would do was sit there running his yap with threats he never made good own. The only thing he did about the PUEBLO was Court Martial the Captain when it should have been LBJ's and McNamara's hide for intentionally hazarding a vessel. NK still has the ship BTW. Which is part of the reason we are where we are today with NK. They don't take our threats to mean anything and for several decades have used our state department as a skirt to hide behind just as they are doing now.
As for Iran? we have an alliance which could handle them but again the U.S. State Department has them bogged down now by interfering with their handling of terrorist at their borders. The enemies of Israel have no better friend than our own state department a sad but true political fact. Every single time they act to control terrorism in their nation a diplomat from the State Department hops a plane and tells them to stop then becomes the mouth piece for the U.N. Why? They are only cleaning house. Had we stayed out of Israel's internal affairs many of our problems may have well been taken care of for us. Remember it was Israel who originally set back Saddam's nuke program not us. Ronnie was smart enough to stand back.
This is expected from a nation of people who stand in front of a microwave and say "Hurry up".
Well I would not have anything derogatory to say about that.
51,000 at Gettysburg.
The U.S. Army Air Force lost 60,000 killed bombing Germany. (One in five U.S. fatalities of WW-II.)
If you're the parent or spouse or child of one 2,800 it still hurts just as bad, but you are correct about keeping things in prospective.
No war is a cake walk.
In any case, the United States has been very successful in Iraq. Saddam Hussein modeled his Baathist socialist party after the Nazis (National Socialists). Now he's been sentenced to death by hanging; he's no longer commiting mass murder or subjecting people to hideous torture. Iraq has a new constitution and free elections. Hospitals, roads, schools, power plants, and other utilities have been rebuilt. 25 million people in Iraq (and another 25 million in Afghanistan) have been freed from tyranny. And in the process, we have killed or captured thousands of terrorists who might otherwise be attacking us here at home. The troops who have given their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan have given the rest of us greater security and freedom, despite what the Democrats and other fools say. The cut and run Democrats would waste the efforts and lives of our troops. We must stay and finish the job.
The Battle of the Somme, 1916, France over a million dead in just six days. The outcome....the allies advanced a total of six miles.
