""Personally, I'd wager the intelligence of a Marine Corps private any day over the average D.C. journalist.""
Gee, one of the reservists I worked with in Iraq was a college professor. "Uneducated"?
Another was a Marine Master Gunnery Sargeant and just barely over 40. "Uneducated"?
A retired Marine colonel was a principal in a startup company developing "non lethal" defensive weapons for police and military use. "Uneducated"?
Kerry needs to go to Iraq and spend time with these allegedly uneducated troops and contractors. But of course he'd find no welcome, and probably not even an open cot in the whole of the theatre.

Very well said! As a reservist, I have had enlisted troops that were the CEO's of successful businesses, had graduate level degrees, etc. It is kind of funny, and reminds me of the Willie & Joe cartoons of WWII, when I would see a bunch of O-4's, -5's and -6's sitting around getting stock tips and investing advice from an E-5!!!
I'd also like to mention the number of "dumb GI's" that got Bachelors and Graduate degrees on the GI Bill, often while on active duty at the same time!
Finally, while I was on active duty, both as an E and an O, the ingenuity of the average "dumb" enlisted soldier, sailor, airman, etc. needs to be seen to be believed! My background was in aviation and these "dumb" troops would find ways to keep our planes flying that were absolutely amazing. I'd like to see that POS Kerry and the other Democratic elitists try to get a piece of machinery running with no parts and the wrong tools out in the middle of the frikkin' desert! They don't teach you that in Harvard.

A friend (a blackhawk pilot) who returned last year from a year's tour told of how his group was in charge of ferrying Kerry around and how they absolutely loathed every minute of it. He said they were treated like his "house boys" and made to wait on him. He was disliked prior to his visit, and his haughty demeanor and attitude only served confirm their perceptions.
Kerry has no interest in seeing what these men and women are doing, or what they are all about. His only concern is his next photo op, and self promotion.

Back in 1966, I served with a several unique pvt.s in the U.S. Marine Corps. One was a phycist, one and attorney, one a former FBI agent (which also requires a degree). All of them were more intelligent than the reporters I've read, or seen on television.
