Sat. I attended a private rally for Rick Santorum in Lancaster Co. PA.
You know how conservative rallies differ from lib rallies...people tend to cheerlead on the positive comments, versus boo & hiss and yell nasty stuff about the other side. But there were several times when murtha's name came up and people booed very loudly and yelled out "TRAITOR!". I was honestly surprised at the level of anger his name invoked.
I was standing & chatting with people around me, and twice I talked to people who, like me, have family "out Pittsburgh way", in murtha's soon-to-be ex-district. Lots of people in this area have familial connections to district 12. There is a high awareness of what is going on and a high level of outrage at murtha's treasonous comments. I'm sure this reflects sentiment from his district. Families do talk.

Stupid question here.
How is that race going so far? I'd love nothing more than to see Murtha out on his keister. That and Santorum have me on the edge of my seat for the Keystone State.
Of course, here in the Volunteer State we have our hands getting Bob Corker in, although Ford's making so many gaffes recently it's like he wants to lose.

I haven't heard or seen any numbers from that race, but I sure hope she wins! She's a great conservative and would be a WONDERFUL addition to the conservative GOP majority and it would be a warning to radical liberals like Murtha who come out so hard against our military and the good work they're doing over there.

Smoothsailing, thanks for all of the Irey pings...I have been looking online, and watching the cable news...but surprisingly no comment yet from Murtha on Senator Kerry's 'joke.' Should Murtha be defending Kerry on this one? Or have I missed something?

Another reason that this race is so important:
John Murtha's defeat will send a message...not only to the Dems but to Republican incumbents:
"There is no such thing as a safe incumbent."
Republican and conservative grassroots activists - with the assistance of the RNC - have un-seated an incumbent Senate minority whip (Daschle) Today, those activists are taking down the House 'deal maker' ...who also happens to be one the Democrat Party's preferred campaign fund raisers. This is also a Dem stronghold where they have a 2-1 margin over Republicans. A loss here sends a message to Hillary, Pelosi, Reid, and to all of the rest, that:
"This is still a nation of the People, by the People and for the People. We make the decisions around here, by God. ...and politicians better remember it."
