In one of the local liberal rags there was a story last week supporting this. Some liberal woman went to Iran to report on the situation. The story was about her conversion to Islam and why its good that women wear a burka.

It's always wise to avoid correcting other people's grammar unless you're sure you're right.
In this case, you were wrong. The preposition "to" requires the objective case of the noun. Thus it is correct to say "to apologize to me" or "to apologize to me and my wife."
There's nothing wrong with grammar police...unless they don't know their grammar.

I didn't say it made sense. I only commented that this woman claiming to be a liberal wrote an article on how happy she was under islamic law. it also commented how bad American women were with their bikini's and immoral behavior.
