The forces of radical Islam are getting very bold in Malaysia; an American couple was subjected to a humiliating, terrifying 2 am khalwat inspection by religious enforcement officers:
Retired American policeman Randal Barnhart, who was subjected to a 2am raid by religious enforcement officers, is reconsidering his plan to make Malaysia his second home.
After that unpleasant episode two weeks ago, I do not feel like making Malaysia my second home. It is a pity because both my wife and I really love Langkawi, he said.
On Oct 12, Barnhart, 62, and his wife Carole, 61, were in their rented condominium in Kuah when enforcement officers continuously knocked on their door at 2am, accusing them of committing khalwat (close proximity).
He said the officers demanded to see his marriage certificate, although he had told them that they were Christians and should not be subjected to Islamic law.
We find it difficult to forget the unpleasant episode. My wife was so terrified by the incident that she fears sleeping in that condominium, he added.
Banhart said the officers were rude and insisted on seeing the woman when he opened the door. My wife had to show herself despite only having a sarong on at that time. We felt humiliated for being treated this way, he said.
He said he had to send his wife back to the United States on the next available flight because she feared people might return to the condominium to terrify her in the middle of the night.
She flew home on Wednesday.
I want the religious department to apologise to me and my wife in writing,

Malaysia is an attractive country with good food, good weather, good beaches and diving, and friendly people. I imagine this was just some guy overstepping his bounds.
This picture was taken from the article.
I assume that they are retired.
Thanks, I enjoyed that!
he's a retired US policeman? with a yacht? and a condo in Malaysia as a 'second home?p
oops
nice catch
where did he get all of his money ?
Ok. So......like I said, "But these folks sound like early reitrees sailing the world."
Did I miss something?
" Did I miss something?"
No.
it has immensely and will continue to do so. there was an article i read a few weeks ago about the country passing some stupid law to OUTLAW "minglish" - the mixture of english and malay spoken daily, patois is another word for it. there will be language police out and about making sure than no one screws with malay by adding english and mandarin words.
my maternal family are strewn across western malaysia - malacca to k.l., keland, selangor, johor, etc...the core of them came from portuguese malacca (portuguese settlement) and speak a patois form of portuguese called 'papia kristang'. they speak an even worse patois in certain instances depending on the company they're around - portuguese, malay, english, mandarin, & tamil all blended together! ("cristao" was the dialect of portuguese spoken and "cristang" or "kristang" (to mean christian, person)is how the malays referred to the portuguese and their descendents, the name for the portuguese when they conquered and settled malacca in the 1500s. papia kristang is the patois blend of 15th century portuguese & malay. portuguese is responsible for contributing at least 500 words or more to the malay language.
so see, even without that kind of 'western influence', these dunces wouldn't even have a language!!!!!!!! *sarc*)
wish I knew .. I have a bro, ret'd NYPD, and can guarantee he doesn's have a yacht, much less condo second home ;)
Ok!!! Then! I'm going to stop arguing then!
Not just in malaysia , but most higher paying jobs around the world require english skills...as a minimum.
To move beyond most basic jobs, one must be able to communicate in english.
Every single one of those countries is a very very soft ally. Most(all) will turn against us if they think they can establish islam as a global power. They are biding their time.
Now his wife flew home.
How is he going to sail his yacht by himself ?
It does not say, but I presume that he does not have a crew to help him.
While one can sail solo, the boat needs to be rigged for solo...which may have have been done if they planned to sail together.
This is just the beginning of this mess for them.
Does he sell the boat in malaysia ...?
Shhh. Experts already on this thread know better!
OMG. She looks like Jimmy Carter.
LOL.
Seperated at birth !
Yeah, well, good luck with that. I can't even begin to understand why an American citizen would even entertain the idea of living in a muslim controlled country (of course I can't conceive of living anywhere but the good old USofA, so...)
i realize that, what i failed to communicate is that malaysia once was a country (esp in the days after its time as a british colony) that stressed english as THE language to learn and master. the last twenty or thirty years has seen a rise in nationalist pride (i.e. islamic-malay pride) and the focus has turned to the malay language and the malay race as being a #1 priority. this has been done by politicians pandering to the religious authorities who have put them in public office. whilst it's been years since i've been in malaysia, close family and friends keep me up-to-date. go to m'sia & then s'pore (singapore) and you will see a huge gap between the economic sectors, social, and religious sectors. singapore will always be 50 years ahead of malaysia - sadly due to the myopic views the ethnic malays have of themselves and their supposed superiority over everyone else.
