Most of the comedians of the time did great physical humor...not much Bill Mahr PBS type humor back then...

There were a lot of plain ol' stand-ups too back then. Youngman, Dangerfield, Burns, Berle, Thomas just to name a few. Back then we had variety shows and stand-up comedians were a staple. As for Mahr, I can honestly say I don't ever remember seeing or hearing him.
