I heard this disheartening bit of news and I started thinking.
And before I start, let me stipulate firmly that I am a firm supporter of the War on Terror and believe in our mission as stated by the President.
That being said, and we're all friends here, right? But I am getting concerned about this insurgency and no I am not the Lamestream Media or Dan Rather. During this month 86 American soldiers were killed? EIGHTY SIX?
Yes I know war means casualties but these soldiers were not engaged in combat as I understand it. It appears that the ""insurgents" or whatever they are, are getting into places and pulling off killings that they really shouldn't be.
As I see the problem, we manage to get the Iraqi police trained and we've got Iran, Saudi Arabia and other nefarious regimes essentially bribing these guys. "Hey, Ahmad, how much you making as a police cadet?" I can hear the whisper. "I'll give you ten thousand American dollars right here if you leave a little bomb inside the police station (OR...insert any other place here)".
Money is the weapon of mass destruction. Given enough money, and the Arab countries have plenty of it via oil revenue, one can buy anything. Thus what it all boils down to is that it increasingly appears that the Iraqs themselves aren't willing to do the job.
Now I know we might have one hundred Iraqi police cadets all honest and trained and dedicated to civilized behavior in their country. But it only takes one bribee to do an amazing amount of damage.
I need a pep talk; reassurance. It's evident that Bush is concerned as he is calling in the Generals and getting an update.
Not to stereotype or anything, heh, but Arabs are notoriously corrupt, their culture is nothing like western culture and LIE...Lord they live to lie.
Help me out here. It breaks my heart to hear of our soldiers dying all because Iraqi civilians themselves can't get along or because so many accept bribes and deal in deceit and lies. Now this poor missing soldier...I'm telling you folks, the American people are simply not going to tolerate us being babysitters for a bunch of adults who act like terrorist children. That includes truly dedicated folks like our own fine selves.
