Yes, that Clinton trip behind the Iron Curtain has never received the attention and research it deserves. In 1968, any American seeking to take such a trip would be assumed by the KGB to be a spy or at least a hostile propagandist, unless very carefully vetted.... they must have been very confident that they had someone who was sympathetic to the great Soviet experiment, and certainly not someone who would turn around and embarrass them once safely back in the west. Who and what assured the KGB that young Bill Clinton could be TRUSTED to be friendly and not hostile to their purposes????
