I like Stanley Crouch, though I doubt he could provide any surprising factoids or analysis I couldn't already imagine, or already know about.
What are you suggesting I "need to know"? , anyway? I can remember that aformentioned girlfriend's mother seeing what I was reading, turning up her nose at the unpleasant memory of her husband's dealings with Elijah M. when they lived on the South Side of Chicago, and me saying, to her surprise "If we have white racism, why not black racism?"
But I was after all 17, and it was the 1960s.
