Anyone seen the new movie? I am planning to go, but would not if it is bad.
Here is the GIRST monument, it wsa used to sell war bonds. And that is my Mom on the left.
I haven't seen it, and probably won't, but I heard a film reviewer the other day saying that Eastwood is taking some heat (from whom is not clear) because the movie bashes Bush, by making the point that we can't trust the gubmint.
The reason we can't trust the gubmint, is because there were two flag raisings and only the second one was photographed, and the government knew it all along but hid that fact - or something along those paranoid lines. Not only hid it, but, horrors, they raised war bond money by having the three flag-raising survivors tour the nation for war bonds. It's so dastardly, I can hardly believe it!
Please go and see this, you will NOT be dissapointed.
I read "Flyboys" by James Brady, who also wrote "Flags". Brady took pains to relay what the Japanese thought of America in those days, which incidentally is the same opinion Americans liberals have today.
