Perhaps some kind of left-handed attempt at "divide and conquer." Or maybe gutlessness.

The current Democrat senator from R.I., Reed has a 7% lifetime conservative rating from the ACU.And he's Hillary's butt boy.

We didn't set around a whine that the establishment was fighting us, we just worked on it for 2 years and got it done!Which we are not doing but since we have a different opinion of how to get it done everyone else whines because we don't agree with them.

We have GOT to let the moderates who control the party to know that there is only so much we will tolerate. As noted before, that's a job for primary elections and grassroot organization.
I realize that the primary route doesn't always work. I also realize that the party bosses will often back a RINO.
But the solution to both those problems isn't to elect a democrat. That only buts a guy whose against you 100% of the time in power over a guy whose against you 50 to 95 % of the time (actual percentages may vary).
The solution is to take over the party apparatus.

So spare me the "TAKE OUT RINOS IN THE PRIMARIES!" BS. Whenever conservatives tried to do that, we get dumped on by the party bosses. BS.
In Ohio, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and other states more conservative candidates were on the ballot in Republican senatorial primaries and they all lost.
The R voters of those states had every chance to elect a good conservative and they chose the RINO's Chaffee, Spector and DeWine instead.
Spare me the party-bosses-made-me-do-it, liberal propagand-induced B.S..
The buck stops with those who vote. They are responsible for their choice.

Wrong. I have worked hard in primaries here only to get bulldozed by the Republican Party! THEY are the ones that eat their own! I am sick of the "do it in the primaries" when they won't let us have one.Dude! Just WHO do you think the Republican party is? Other people who apparently disagree with you! Work on winning them over, you might have something.

I remember Pat ran for President on the Reform Party ticket in 2000, when did he rejoin the Republican Party?
To: GatorGirl
I have three things to say: 1) War on Terror to which I reply Hagel? Chaffee?
2) Judiciary
to which I reply Graham? McCain? DeWine? Specter?
3) Taxes
to which I reply, check a list of RINOs who want to rescind the tax cuts

Make things clear to everyone. YOUR posts were pulled too.
Your implications are erroneous, you are either deceiving yourselves or trying to deceive others. Jim pulled the entire day's posts without regard to content... the only folks suspended were your comrades.

I have added you to the list of Suicidal Freepers that have no credibility and should be ignored. Whether you like it or not RINOS in Blue States are better than Dems in any state. A RINO that votes 40% of the time with the majority is still far superior to a Dem that votes 10% of the time with the majority. There is no ideological utopia to be had so spare me with your unattainable goals.

....To be honest, he is about as conservative as we can put up from this state. What we have to do, is simply provide you guys with the numbers you need to set the agenda and we rely on those of you in less liberal areas to consistently move us rightward. If you get too far ahead of the country as a whole, you will lose those at the tail end. If you go too slowly or aimlessly, you will lose the base.... Really excellent and thought-provoking post. It's all about an effective strategery.

That was not the general interpretation at the time, but I am open to believing it was miscommunication. Whatever you like. It is a petty argument.
Please understand: Chaffee gets my "conditional" support because we need him to retain leadership. Period. He won whatever primary he had as determined by the voters in his state.
Another day, another situation, perhaps another vote. I don't know. To say he gets our unconditional support is to completely misunderstand every point on this thread. He may be apostate, but that would be to assume he once was not. And I don't believe that for a second.
