No, I was one of those students way back when. I'm all too aware of the colossally stupid things kids that age are capable of doing when under the influence, as this guy most likely was. I'm sure he didn't set out to kill a cop that night, and he's probably not a psychopath or a career criminal. But he did the deed, and it had horrific consequences. Now he's going to get an education of the kind he never bargained for.

Unless the student meant to drag the officer, manslaughter is a more likely charge than murder. What a thing to live with the rest of one's life. If a conscience is present, that is.
