I went to the first showing here in E-Town, and I think that nearly every person in the theater was either a current or retired Marine. I've never seen that many red Marine jackets in one place in my life.

There were two old men sitting beside me who were wearing these jackets. During the scene where the squad is getting ready to go for a swim, one of them looked over at his friend and commented that they didn't have white boxers, they had green. I don't know if this meant that he was there on Iwo Jima, but he was likely somewhere in the Pacific during the war.

I saw a preview of the movie last week and thought so much of it, I sent all my brats to it tonite. All I told them was to try to sense what courage those men had and to think about why. And, to get a feeling for the sacrifices of the men, their families, and the country, and then compare that to how so many are supporting the war today. My oldest said he is embarrassed by how so many are ready to cut and run.
Also, to show how things change, the photo of the Flag Raising helped win a war, CNN this week went on a "ride along " with terrorists snipers and ran tape as one of ours got gunned down. Bastards

Great. I'm curious, then. Did you notice any other reactions from the men? Did it seem they agreed with the general theme? (BTW, the scene at the end where they all go swimming, and temporarily get to forget the war, was incredibly touching.)
