We're halfway through the Chase, and coming into the sole short track of the Chase season, here's how the standings look:
1. Jeff Burton - 5763 points
2. Matt Kenseth - 5718 (-45)
3. Kevin Harvick - 5674 (-89)
4. Mark Martin - 5661 (-102)
5. Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 5657 (-106)
6. Denny Hamlin - 5626 (-137)
7. Jimmie Johnson - 5617 (-146)
8. Kasey Kahne - 5603 (-160)
9. Kyle Busch - 5568 (-195)
10. Jeff Gordon - 5547 (-216)
That's the big sticking point. I rather like your method at least for this year, though at wreckfests like Bristol, 'Dega, Martinsville and 'Tona, you could easily be 30 laps down and still in the top 20.
"It is still really ugly. When you're used to seeing real slick racecars and you see that, it doesn't look like it's a step forward."
That's because Smoke saw a truly-putrid Crown Royal car, one that would look butt-ugly on this year's Fusion. The COT would look a lot better than that hulk if it had some yellow-and-black or red on it.

Bump Bump Bump... :)
The two Burton brothers chose pitboxes next to each other. Isn't that sweet?
Jr has #3 Yay!! Between Smoke and Schrader.
In case anyone is interested..http://www.nascar.com/promos/2006/tnt/pit_box/
I don't think so. The majority of the fanbase is pretty much represented in the top ten, except for Smoke.
The numbers weren't this bad last year with Jr not being in the Chase. He has the largest fanbase of all I think.
I think it's that they NEVER promote the race on NBC/TNT and their coverage has sucked with too many commercials. That's the fault of Nascar of course for charging the networks too much to begin with......Brains and Greed.
Then there's the inconsistent rules and the changes in the cars this year which has, at times, made for crappy racing since the teams can't get a handle on the setups because of the lousy tires, spoilers, camber, etc.
How many fans would need to defect to drop ratings 10 to 15%? And remember Jr and Flash still had plenty of coverage because they WEREN'T in the chase...
I don't know. lol How many total fans are there?
BTW Why don't we have our qualifying points in FR Fantasy? My other groups have points.
Perhaps we should contact Icecold...
I just checked this morning again. It appears there are some leagues that don't have qual points......some have driver starts messed up and some have their scores messed up. I certainly hope Yahoo gets it together before the race starts.
Good luck Jr, go fast, pit fast and be safe!! We're in the Lucky #3 pit! YES!!!
As if we don't have enough problems, with Toyota, the COT running part time.......maybe this won't be a problem for the engine guys.....I certainly hope not.
I like how you think. :)
Elliott switches teams for Atlanta; Allmendinger in Red Bull ride: Bill Elliott's plans to run in the Bass Pro Shops 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway next week with....... a special paint scheme commemorating his 30 years of racing at his home track have been scrapped, but he'll race in front of the home folks anyway. Elliott said the .....Red Bull team that was set to field his car asked him to step aside so rookie A.J. Allmendinger could drive.
Elliott agreed, then struck a deal to drive the #37 Dodge R&J Racing. "But the key is that I'll be racing, and that I don't let down the fans who have already bought tickets," Elliott said.(Atlanta Journal-Constitution)(10-20-2006)
I'm not liking these guys more and more.......that goes for their driver next year too.
I haven't liked them since the first day I heard "NASCAR" and "toy-yoda" in the same sentence. My grandfather saw beach races at Daytona, and was responsible for my entire family growing up as stock car fans. I grew up thinking everyone listened to the race on the radio on Sunday afternoons. He would not recognize, nor approve of, this NASCAR. I'm glad he passed back when Pearson, Petty, Yarborough, and the Allisons were still in cars with steel bumpers.
Between them, the COT and all the F1 drivers moving over, it will never be the same. Times marches on.....but I liked Nascar the way it was. If Dale Jr wasn't racing I probably would not watch any more.
It may be time to do a NO rain dance for today. It would be ok with me if they delayed the start a bit. :)
