The Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment.

President George W. Bush enjoys a moment with NASCAR racing champion Richard Petty during a visit Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, Inc., in Randleman, N.C. The center was founded by Petty's son, Kyle, and Kyle's wife, Pattie, in memory of their son, Adam, a fourth-generation NASCAR driver killed during practice in 2000.

Hi Jonny. Am sending this at work to thank you so much for the ping to these photos. Even though I'm only a fan observing NASCAR from across the country in California, Adam Petty's death affected me more than Dale Earnhardt's did.

Adam was young. Just a kid, really. He had a warm, sunny personality and a hugely infectious smile. He was also a very genuine talent behind the wheel of a racecar. The work his family is doing with kids in his name and honor is wonderful.
